In Fig. 4A and B (smaller images) arrows indicate normal and partially altered junctions, whereas in Fig. 4C (smaller image) arrows indicate the irregular junction and the presence of intercellular spaces. TEM images are representative of a larger number (> 10) of observations of the same phenomenon. Magnifications are 11000X for the larger images (bar 1 μm) and 17500X for the smaller images (bar 500 nm)
